Fall-Proof Your Pout

Fall is finally here, even if it doesn’t quite feel like it yet in New York City. That being said, we’re officially transitioning our dewy, bronzed summer look into a sophisticated cinnamon hued palette. With falling temperatures (forecast permitting), however, comes dry flaky skin. If you’re like us, the worst part about dry skin is what it means for lips. Chapped, cracked, peeling, discolored- none of it is even remotely cute. Furthermore, dry lips can make or break a look, regardless of whether you opt for lip color or not. Fear not, dear readers, a luscious, hydrated, plump pout is within reach during the colder months. And the best part? It only requires two products, although we’ve also included some other fave finds to finish off your look.

Fall Make-up Bag

The secret to Fall-proofing your pout? Step 1: exfoliate, step 2: lock in moisture.

Step 1: Lush Lip Scrub

Popcorn 25g
  • This vegan lip scrub is good enough to eat- literally. With ingredients including sugar, jojoba oil, coconut oil, and salt you can buff away dead skin cells while moisturizing your pout. Once you’re finished, simply lick it away! While Lush offers a range of flavors, our favorite is Popcorn- which packs a buttery punch.

Step 2: Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

  • One of my favorite finds of 2017 is Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask. My dog approves too- every time I have it on, she goes straight for the mouth. Not only does it taste and smell great, however, it also transforms your lips overnight. I’m such a fan that it has since replaced my everyday chapstick. My lips have never felt better. If the lip mask is too heavy for your tastes, they also offer a lighter Agave Lip Balm.

A Tiny Splurge

A Tiny Splurge

Recently, I shamelessly had my make-up done in the lobby of an Equinox with a friend a. so I could look b-e-a-u-tiful at work for once and b. because it came with the promise of a 20% off coupon. Turns out, I’m a bigger fan of Bobbi Brown than I realized before and have zero impulse control when it comes to a discount with an expiration date. Cue one of the biggest orders that I’ve made online in a while and one that I’ll be paying for for another couple of paychecks. But hey, #noregrets, right?

Included in my purchase was the Intensive Skin Supplement & Hydrating Eye Cream (have to start fighting wrinkles early, amirite?), Instant Full Cover Concealer (truly better than sleep), Skin Foundation Stick (just the right amount of coverage and somehow it magically matches my skin tone), and a corrector (because I always carry two large tote bags under my eyes and need a way to camouflage them). Bonus points: I got to make my own skin care sampler set for free, so it’s totally justifiable, right? Right?

Fresh Finds for February

Fresh Finds for February

Regardless of your Valentine’s Day plans, everyone wants to feel a little luxe and romantic in February. Especially if your current plans revolve around a night making sweet love to some chocolate and a bottle of wine alone on your couch like yours truly, it can help to feel like Grace Kelly reclining while you do so. And nothing will make you feel more like Grace Kelly than a beautifully designed product. A product that will look good while making you look good. Check out our picks below:

Tocca fragrance
Confession: I spend a lot of time at Sephora. For some reason, I feel like any money I spend there doesn’t count, like calories you don’t add yo your calorie tracker (hint: they never happened). With the amount of time I’ve spent there, you can bet your a** I’ve tried on every fragrance in their catalog. Every time I go to buy perfume, I tell myself I’m going to branch out, but nothing can beat Florence by Tocca, so that’s the only perfume I’ve ever gone home with. It wears beautifully, makes itself known without making an Axe like statement, and is supposed to make me smell like a “Parisian sophisticate”. An earthy floral, this perfume should be stocked in your purse stat. Bonus: The rollerball comes in beautiful gold and olive packaging.
Hourglass is one of my favorite finds from the past year. Of my Hourglass finds, this compact is by far my favorite. I’ve had a hard time finding a natural looking highlighter. Most of my other attempts revolved around sticks or liquids, which were either too harsh or too gummy on my skin. This compact delivers a subtle healthy glow through blush, highlighter, and a bronzer. It’s my one stop shop in the morning to sculpt a dynamic look, even in the middle of February when it’s been approximately 5 months since I last saw sunshine. Bonus: You’ll want to show off the beautiful, marble look case.

Givenchy makeup
This lip color comes in a pink leather case that looks oh so chic. It also, plumps, moisturizes, and delivers custom lip color by reacting to your skin’s Ph. The color is sheer and your lips, but better. Additionally, if you’re anything like me, your lips are a hot mess by now so it pays to have a lip balm that you actually want to wear.
